MAC Cosmetics - Cockney

Bit of a story behind this lipstick, me and my best friend Ellen went to London to see Sigur Ros, and went for a nosey in Camden and she tried on some wedding frocks in FairyGothMother. We popped into the Mac store close by and I decided that 'Cockney' would be a sensible purchase on account of the London and all.

Although red is the staple I think that Red is probably the colour I own the least of, I think I probably have more orangey style lipsticks. MAC describes Cockney as 'sheer yellow red with multi dimensional pearl', I think it's an extremely wearable red because it's shiny you don't get the BAM! of the matt red. I think when I first got it I described it as 'watery'. It is quite quite nice though. It's one of those that changes intensity based on skin tone based on the wee google image search. He is my little selfie.

I also wore it for a shoot recently. It worked really well with my beige and red tartan hot pants. You get the quality that you always get with mac, the smell is amazing, and the texture is perfection, I would highly recommend Cockney for those who fancy red but aren't brave enough to get for a deep one.

So what's my favourite Lipstick!?

Hmm, I'm not really sure if it's my favourite lipstick but is it mostly definitely my most used, I has come to me to many photoshoots, interviews and for the days where I just want to wear lipstick. It was originally recommended to me by my lovely friend Josephine Birkett.

What is this lipstick? Mac, Creme Cup! (This image borrowed from www.bigblondehair.com)

I have a soft spot for Mac Lipsticsk because they just go on dead soft and smooth and the smell is so divine that you'd think it was edible. I have wore this lipstick for countless shoots!

I wore it for this Sunderland chunky jumper shoot with Carl Glancey
This shoot with Philip Hunton
This shoot with Michael J Smalley
And Josephine applied it to my face for shoot with Spellbound Imagery

Every single interview I go to Creme Cup is always my go to lipstick, it's neutral, inoffensive but slightly more pleasant than the colour of my lip underneath, I also really enjoy Mac's Fabby which is quite similar to Creme Cup but I shall blog this separately. I'm already pretty excited about getting a bit more hands on and focused with my lipstick blogging! Whoop!

I may have a problem........

So it turns out I have a lot of lipsticks, a hella lot of lipsticks. Over 150 and considering I rarely wear make up this makes it a bit odd! I don't know if it goes back to my school days where I was really badly bullied for having big lips. I used to get called ' joob joobs'. This later effected my embarrassment about how my mouth moved when I ate or sang. I used to be in a band in middle school this was my only place to escape how utterly shit my home life. This was until I made the brainiac decision to get married at the age of 16 but that's another story.

My joob joobs made me really insecure, and I think when I buy lots of lipsticks it's me owning how big my lips are and knowing that I can dress them up if and when the mood takes me. I have a good mixture of Mac, Lancome, Like Crime, Melt and various other high street brands. Every month I treat myself to a payday lipstick, it's my thing and its a lot cheaper than when I tried to implement the same system with Black Milk.

I am an amateur model so I do shoots I try to do one per week, sometimes more, sometimes less. I am currently on a bit of a weight loss kick so I am trying to throw myself into that at the moment.

The idea of this blog is to actually get out there, force myself to use my lipstick collection and maybe the reviewing aspect will help me to make better lipstick purchase decisions in the future.

Thanks for reading my intro blog!
